As an Under 10% Project Partner, health and community sector services will, with support from the Project Team, develop and implement a workplace tobacco management policy that includes the following 5 commitments:
1. Be a smokefree workplace
Project Partners can choose to have designated smoking areas; however there will need to be separate smoking areas for workers and clients / consumers and the areas will need to need to comply with Work Health & Safety.
2. Workers won’t smoke whilst on duty
Project Partners commit to formalising their position that workers will not smoke whilst on duty. If workers choose to smoke they will need to take unpaid breaks to do so.
3. Workers and clients / consumers won’t smoke together
Project Partners commit to formalising their position that workers will not smoke with clients / consumers.
4. Provide support and information
Project Partners commit to providing tobacco information and resources to their workers, visitors and clients / consumers, including information about nicotine replacement therapy which is subsidised through the Project.
5. Policy communication
Project Partners commit to communicating their new workplace tobacco management policy, including through displaying signs and posters in the workplace.
